SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- Deputies are looking for the driver in a Spokane Valley pursuit that ended with the car in flames.

The car went up in flames around midnight at the corner of Bessie and Main.

Deputies tried to pull over the 2001 Pontiac Bonneville for reckless driving on Trent and Park. The pursuit reached speeds of 70 mph, and the police lost sight of the suspects near 8th and Eastern.

A short time later, a neighbor called to say that same car was on fire in his driveway. Investigators determined this was not a case of arson, but the fire started somewhere in the engine.

Police set up a perimeter and a K-9 track, but still haven’t located the suspect, or suspects involved. The car was abandoned when they got there, so authorities say they aren’t sure who they’re looking for.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
