SPOKANE-- An 85 year old woman was seriously hurt in a wreck on Spokane’s South Hill Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the wreck in Spokane's Perry District around 2:45 p.m.

The wreck occurred near the intersection of Perry and 17th. Police said a red car was westbound on 17th.

Police say that driver blew a stop sign and hit a car driven by an 85-year-old woman, who was driving south on Perry.

Extrication was needed to free the 85-year-old woman from her car, according to officials. She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the red car was also transported with what appeared to be 'more minor' injuries. Police said the driver of the red car will be ticketed for failing stop.

Streets were closed a few blocks in each direction. Police expected the crash to be cleared by 4:30 p.m.
