Are the Miss USA photos too sexy?
SEATTLE - It was about a year ago that Carrie Prejean lost her crown as Miss California USA. While the argument has raged over whether it was due to her comments on gay marriage or if it was because she breached her contract, what could not be denied were the racy photos of her that surfaced shortly after the controversy began.
Now, it's the pageant organizers themselves who are taking heat for publicity photos of this year's contestants – photos that some say are too hot.
The black and white photos show the contestants posing on furniture – including lying on beds – wearing lingerie, open shirts, fishnets and high heels.
Miss Washington, Tracy Turnure, is seated sideways on a chair wearing a button down shirt. Miss Oregon, Kate Paul, is seen kneeling on a bed in black lingerie. Miss Idaho, Jessca Cathleen Hellwinkel, appears to be seated on a bed, wearing a black corset and fishnet stockings.
According to TMZ, officials at the Miss Universe organization, which is the parent of the Miss USA organization, have been inundated by phone calls by people who say the photos are too revealing and risqué. Pageant reps are reportedly defending the photos, calling them "tasteful and very sexy."
