I ride the Max daily to commute from Portland to Beaverton. Tonight riding home at 5:00pm there was a man with petition information for Medical Marijuana that got on the train. This man approached a group of teenagers on the train. You could clearly tell that these teenagers were not of age and he did it anyway. They were 17 or 18 at best. He never should have approached them. The discussion became a bit heated & the man told them about a family member dying of cancer & how marijuana helped them. While understanding the petition, these people were kids & not of voting age. That potitioner should have known better. Any parent would be very angry about a stranger soliciting there children to sign a petition for medical marijuana on public transporation. There was a parent next to me that was going to say something, but thought it was best not to. I feel that there needs to be some definitive guidelines on where people can potition voters & clearly not approaching people that are obviously not of age. I am hoping by writing that maybe a story could be published that if nothing else education the people trying to petition so that this kind of activity doesnt happen again. I have no photos of this as it was a very full train. I am hoping that something could be said about this on the news to get the word out.
