Columbus Day Storm: A KING 5 Weather Special

On Oct. 12, 1962, the monstrous Columbus Day storm struck Western Washington. Gusts as high as 150 miles per hour downed power lines and left many Northwest neighborhoods in darkness.

On the 50th anniversary of this event in 2012, KING 5 produced this special looking back at that day and how forecasting technology has changed since then.
