The British monarchy saga "The King's Speech" garnered 12 nominations, including one for best actor favorite Colin Firth, and acting nods for Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush.

The Coen brothers' remake of the Western "True Grit" received 10 nominations, with two of them going to Jeff Bridges and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld.

"The Social Network," about the founding of Facebook, received eight nominations, including one for best actor for Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg.

The sci-fi thriller "Inception" also received eight nominations, while "The Fighter" got seven nominations, including three for supporting acting nominees Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo.

"Black Swan," starring best actress nominee Natalie Portman, was nominated for five Oscars.

Other nominees for Best Picture include "The Kids Are All Right," "Toy Story 3," "Winters Bone," and "127 Hours." That film stars best acting nominee James Franco - who will co-host ABC's telecast of the Oscar presentation with Anne Hathaway on Feb. 27.
