BUCKLEY, Wash. -- A woman was seriously injured in a mobile home fire near Buckley.
The fire alarm came in about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday as police were responding to a call of a suicide attempt at the same address in the 24000 block of 122nd St. E.
When firefighters arrived, they found the double wide mobile home engulfed in flames. Firefighters rescued the woman and took her to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She suffered second degree burns and was reportedly in critical but stable condition.
A neighbor said the woman lived alone in the mobile home with a dog. The home was destroyed but nearby homes were not damaged.
"Other homes were not touched. We arrived on scene within two minutes after dispatch and we were able to contain it within 20 minutes ," said Dina Sutherland, East Pierce County Fire. "There was (danger) potential. The homes are quite close, but we were able to stop it quickly."
Fire investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
