KIRKLAND, Wash. - String musicians from around the region gathered in Kirkland on Sunday to attempt to set the record for the world's largest string ensemble playing the same tune under one roof.
The record-setting string ensemble included more than 400 people, ranging in age from 5 to 65. The group started with a classical string tune, Pachelbel's Canon in D and closed with a string rendition of the guitar classic, Smoke on the Water.
Redmond Region Orchestra Boosters, who sponsored the event, said all the criteria were met for the Guinness World Record. The official confirmation from GWR is expected in 6 to 8 weeks.
