KENT, Wash. -- The City of Kent prepares to get rid of a big multi-story concrete and rebar headache.
On Monday, crews will take a wrecking ball to an unfinished parking garage adjacent to Town Park Square Plaza.
The parking garage has never housed a car and has held more puddles and problems since work stopped more than four years ago after a bank terminated the developer's construction loan.
The city stepped in and rescued the rebar and rust from foreclosure last fall and flipped it to another developer. That developer will start to tear it down during a city celebration Monday morning.
The property is now slated to become an apartment and retail complex. Kent leaders hope it will finally make the spot picture perfect.
