CLACKAMAS, Ore. -- A drifting sports utility vehicle led rescuers down the Clackamas River Tuesday morning.
Clackamas County deputies spotted the Ford Excursion part-way submerged about 100 yards from the Carver Bridge around 7 a.m.
Crews in a marine patrol boat used a pole camera to make sure no one was inside, then tied buoys and crime tape to the SUV. The key was also in the ignition.
Later in the morning, the owner contacted police to say it was stolen during the night from the home on SE Harmony Road.
Investigators said the insurance company would be making arrangements to get the SUV out of the water Tuesday and that it did not pose a navigational hazard.
Anyone with information was asked to call the Sheriff's Office's confidential Tip Line at (503) 723-4949.
