On the second month anniversary of the Oso landslide, a group of middle schoolers organized an event, in hopes of bringing smiles to their community.

The first annual Oso Benefit Dance/Fair took place at Post Middle School, which was transformed into a Red Cross shelter in the days immediately following the landslide.

Post Middle School also lost one of its students, seventh grader Jovon "JoJo" Mangual.

He was remembered at Thursday's event, with a game named in his honor.  Students also took part in a dance, face painting, and other activities.

Students at middle schools in Oso and Darrington were also invited.  Organizers of the event felt it was important to include all of the schools impacted by this tragedy.

They hope to make it an annual event.
