BOISE - One sheriff's deputy is being treated for smoke inhalation, another for carbon monoxide poisoning after helping to get a woman out of a burning home.
Sgt. Patrick Calley with the Ada County Sheriff's Office says it didn't even take the deputies a full minute to arrive to the fire once the call came in.
"The deputies approached the house and through a window they could see the foot of a person. They made entry through that room, were able to get that person out and get them immediate first aid," Calley said.
A neighbor said right before deputies arrived, the grandson of the woman in the home was pounding on his door to alert him to the fire.
"He said he couldn't find his grandmother," said Wes Bender. "We broke in the back door, she wasn't there. Broke in the front door, couldn't find her there. A couple minutes later, police arrived."
Calley says both the residents were taken to the hospital.
One sheriff's deputy was transported to the hospital by ambulance and is being treated for carbon monoxide and smoke inhalation.
The other deputy was taken by police car and is also being treated for carbon monoxide.
