Kopachuck State Park in Gig Harbor offers a little bit of everything for people looking for a short getaway.
I brought my wife and two children here for a few hours and we fell in love with the quietness of the park.
It was an overcast day, like many in Washington, and we were the only ones occupying the beach during the late morning hours.
When arriving to the park, there is a short 1/8 mile walk down a forest path to get down to the beach. The trails are manageable, even for small children. Mine enjoyed experiencing nature and getting their energy out. My 6-year-old, who loves the outdoors, was thrilled with the park. In all, the state park offers 2 miles of trails.
We found oyster shells, crabs and sand dollars on the rocky beach.
During low tide, there is a variety of sea life to explore. Just off the shoreline, Cutts Island is accessible by boat.
The state park has restrooms. Dogs are allowed on the beach.
