Legally navigating drone airspace

The use of drones for business is being called the biggest change for aviation in decades.

SEATTLE - Experts in the world of unmanned aerial systems - what most of us call drones - are meeting in a conference at law firm K&L Gates in downtown Seattle.

Recently the FAA published rules for commercial drone use for lightweight drones operated below 500 feet and over unpopulated areas with a new type of pilot license.

However, the next steps are bigger aircraft flying higher: flying out of sight of their pilots. All of it brings both regulatory issues and liability concerns as this industry grows rapidly.
