On Friday, The MLS Disciplinary Committee handed out a 2-game suspension to Sounders star Clint Dempsey for slapping Toronto FC s Mark Bloom in the groin during a game last Saturday. Dempsey was also fined an undisclosed amount for what the committee deemed was violent conduct during the incident.

After the match, Dempsey said he was slapping Bloom's hand away after feeling a hand on his back. Dempsey did appeal throught the MLS Players Union, but the committee's decision was upheld.

Dempsey will miss Saturday's match at Montreal and Columbus at home. He will return for the rivalry game at Portland on April 5th.
