DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers beat the Mariners 4-2 on Saturday night.

Mariners ace Felix Hernandez left after five innings, ending a major league record success streak.

Hernandez had gone at least seven innings and allowed no more than two runs in his previous 16 starts. Tom Seaver set the previous mark of 13 in 1971.

Hernandez appeared to be in some discomfort after being hit in the leg by Ian Kinsler's sharp grounder to end the fourth, but he pitched one more inning.

The All-Star right-hander gave up two runs and seven hits in five innings.

No announcement on his condition was immediately made by the Mariners.

David Price allowed three hits, struck out seven and walked three in his first game at Comerica Park since he was acquired in a trade with Tampa Bay last month. Joe Nathan worked the ninth for his 25th save, yielding Endy Chavez's RBI single.
