PORTLAND, Ore. – The CEO of a catering company that manages concessions at Providence Park has resigned after he was caught on video repeatedly kicking a puppy in an elevator.
In the video now removed from YouTube, Centerplate CEO Desmond Hauge can be seen kicking a Doberman puppy. He also yanks on the dog's collar, nearly pulling it off the ground.
Global News in Canada reported Hauge was removed from his job on Tuesday.
Hague released a statement, apologizing and calling his actions "out of character." He promised to donate $100,000 and 1,000 hours of community service to animal welfare.
Timbers fans and many others took to twitter with strong reactions to the video. Many people called for Hauge's firing. A petition to fire him gathered more than 180,000 online signatures.
