PORTLAND -- For the second time in two weeks, a lost dog in the Portland Metro area was found with its mouth wrapped shut.

Nestor Salazarfound a pit bull puppy at Gresham's Kane Park at 8 p.m. Wednesday, said Multnomah County Animal Services spokesman Henry Stern.

The puppy had his entire snout wrapped tightly shut and X-rays at Animal Services hospital at the shelter showed the dog has two broken legs, Stern said.

It made me feel mad there is scum out there in the world that can abuse a puppy, added Salazar.

On Nov. 24, a Shih Tzu was found lost in north Portland with a rubber band tied around its mouth.

That dog was adopted by the young girls who found him, and the investigation continues into that abuse.

We don t know at this time if we have a copycat incident, Animal Services Director Mike Oswald said Thursday. What we do know is we need the public s help to find out who is responsible for these cruelties to animals.

Salazar hopes to adopt the puppy in the most recent case when it is healthy.

I can make his bad life of abuse turn into happiness.

Anyone with information about either incident was asked to call 503-988-6238 or 503-201-0067.
