BURIEN, Wash. -- A four-year-old boy remains in serious condition after a hit and run in Burien Thursday night. While the child is recovering, King County authorities are still looking for the driver.

Meanwhile, people who live along the stretch of road where the incident happened say drivers treat it like a racetrack, and they want something done about it.

The incident happened Thursday night at the intersection of SW 124th St and 4th Ave. around 8:30 p.m.

Family members say the boy was getting out of a car when he was hit by a white Honda - hard enough it sent the child several feet into the air. The driver initially pulled over, but then took off toward Seattle. Family members tried to chase it down, but it didn't work.

Thechild was immediately transported to Harborview Medical Center with head injuries.

The speed limit on the stretch of 4th Avenue is 35 miles-an-hour, but residents say that rarely happens.

If you have little ones like this in the household, it's scary, said Preciousgrace Pago, resident.

A spokesperson for the King County Sheriff's Office says theyare looking foran older white Honda Accord or Civic sedan with front-end damage. If you have information in the case, call police.
