PORTLAND -- A Southeast Portland church that was devastated by theft and vandalism reopened just in time for Easter Sunday services.

Central Christian Church held its annual services Sunday morning after having to scrap services last Sunday after a thief stole most of the church's music and computer equipment.

The story caught the public's attention and the community rallies. Within days police arrested a suspect.

The church recovered about 70 percent of it's equipment and the pastor told KGW about the silver-lining in the whole episode.

I think really helped us to understand a little more about the comm spirit that's around our church, reverend David Brink said.

He hopes the person responsible f0r the thefts and vandalism will be punished but said the church hopes to reach out to him. He was included in Sunday's prayers.
