EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- The University of Oregon says it has booked the Dalai Lama to deliver a lecture at Matthew Knight Arena on May 10.
The Register-Guard says it will be the first time the world-renowned peace advocate and Buddhist monk has visited Eugene.
The lecture is open to students, faculty and staff, as well as the public.
The Dalai Lama has written more than 70 books. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 in recognition of his nonviolent struggle for the liberation of Tibet from Chinese rule.
His visit to Oregon in May will include several events in the Portland area.
