PORTLAND -- Temperatures that were in the 70s earlier in the week quickly plummeted into the 40s and will dip into the 30s at night going into the weekend.

Overall, cloudy skies will continue, and according to KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard, the Portland metro area may even see a few light showers.

Road crews suggest drivers carry chains or traction devices.

Parts of Central Oregon got hit hard with snow with Sunriver seeing almost a foot. The Oregon Department of Transportation closed the Old McKenzie Pass Highway for the season.

The cold weather is also creating fog in parts of the valley, making driving especially tricky at night and early in the morning.
