ALOHA,Ore. -- The father of a 22-year-old man that was shot outside of an Aloha grocery store said his son went to the market to pick up snacks when he was killed.
Ryan Johnson was gunned down outside of the Thriftway on Farmington Road last Thursday, deputies said.
The man accused of pulling the trigger is 52-year-old Jeffrey Johnson. Police arrested him a short time later and he is now in the Washington County Jail on a murder charge.
I got a call on my cell phone, said Timothy Davis, Ryan s Father. Austin was saying that Ryan has been shot.
Austin is Ryan s younger brother and, according to Davis, was with Ryan when he was shot.
And, I said 'quit playing shenanigans. I know you guys play shenanigans. Stop it, that s not funny.' And he (Austin) said, No he s been shot, he s been killed.
The suspect is the father of Ryan s former girlfriend and the grandfather of Ryan s child. Court documents show that Ryan and the suspect s daughter were in a custody battle for their 3-year-old boy.
It s hard to wrap my mind around it, that a person would be that evil to do something like that and think that that s the overall answer to the problems that were going on, Davis said.
A memorial service for Ryan Johnson is planned for this Saturday at the Life Church in Aloha. A fund has been set up to help with costs. People who would like to help can make donations at any US Bank branch under the Ryan Lee Johnson fund.
