SEATTLE - Seahawks starting defensive tackle Rocky Bernard and nickel back Jordan Babineaux have been suspended by the NFL for next week's season opener.

Both were suspended without pay Saturday. Bernard violated the league's personal conduct policy. He was arrested in April for allegedly hitting his girlfriend in the head at a nightclub. He received a continuance of a charge of domestic violence.

Babineaux was fined a second game check for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

The team set its the regular-season roster of 53. Wide receiver Ben Obomanu was placed on injured reserve one day after breaking his clavicle in the preseason finale against Oakland. Seattle kept two kickers: veteran Olindo Mare and rookie Brandon Coutu.

Rookie summer running star Justin Forsett made the team. Camp standout receiver Michael Bumpus of Washington State did not.
