COLVILLE, Wash. -- Court documents released Wednesday give disturbing details about how and why two fifth grade boys planned to kill a girl classmate.

The boys were arrested at Fort Colville Elementary School on Feb. 7 after a fourth grader came forward and told a school employee of the plan.

The Colville superintendent said the case started on the bus ride to school when the fourth grader saw one of the boys playing with a knife.

When the bus arrived at school, the boy approached school employee Richard Payette.

Court document state Payette approached the 11-year-old boy and asked if he had a knife. The boy denied any knowledge of a knife, so Payette searched his backpack. There was no weapon inside.

Another teacher suggested the 10-year-old s backpack also be searched, since he was standing with the 11-year-old.

Payette searched the second boy s backpack and recovered a 3.25 inch knife, an ammunition clip, and a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol.
School staff separated the boys and called the Colville Police Department.

A staff member named Debbie Rogers asked the 10-year-old why he brought a gun to school. The boy told her he and the 11-year-old were going to get a girl identified in court documents by her initials.

Rogers asked the boy would he meant by get her.

The 10-year-old responded that he and the 11-year-old were going to get [the girl] away from the school and do her in . He said the 11-year-old was going to stab the girl with a knife and the 10-year-old was supposed to keep everyone away, according to court documents.

The 10-year-old indicated he and the 11-year-old had been planning this for awhile, and that another student was aware of their plans.

Rogers then spoke to the 11-year-old. She asked him what the deal was with the knife and gun. He told her he had no idea what she was talking about. Rogers got more specific, asking about the knife, the gun, and the girl. Rogers indicated the 11-year-old became agitated, walked around a little bit, and then asked, Do you really want to know? OK, fine. I ll tell you.

Court documents state the 11-year-old stated he and the 10-year-old were planning to gill the girl because she was really annoying.

When asked what they were planning, the 11-year-old indicated, I was going to kill her with the knife and [the 10-year-old] was supposed to use the gun to keep anyone from trying to stop me or mess up our plan.

Records state the 11-year-old also admitted the girl was not the only one they were going to get . Rogers pulled out a class list and the 11-year-old showed her six more names of students they were going to target.

He told her he and [the 10-year-old] were e going to get them away from the school one at a time starting with [the girl] , according to the documents.

Family members were called to be present during the police interviews.

Police asked the 11-year-old if he knew why he was being questioned. The 11-year-old replied Yes, because we were going to kill [the girl] , records show.

An officer asked the boy to describe his relationship with the girl and the 11-year-old said they had been friends for several months, but that he hated her now. He indicated [the girl] had recently become rude and would pick on him, according to court documents.

Next, the officer interviewed the 10-year-old. Asked if he knew why he was being questioned, the boy replied Because we wanted to kill [the girl], records show. When asked why, the 10-year-old replied She s rude and always made fun of me and my friends.

The 10-year-old said he had been in a short dating relationship with the girl. He admitted bringing the gun and knife to school, which he said he had taken from his older brother s room, according to court documents.

When the officer asked the 10-year-old if it was his intention to murder the girl, he said it was going to go down today, court documents state.

The officer asked the 10-year-old if he knew what he was going to do was dangerous, wrong, and unlawful, and the boy replied Yes, I just wanted her dead, the records show.
