PORTLAND -- Freezing fog Friday morning was making for an accident filled commute throughout the Portland metro area.

A number of school districts reported reported delays and were putting buses on snow routes.

The slick conditions were expected to continue throughout the morning drive, said KGWmeteorologist Nick Allard. If you see fog, assume ice, he warned.

A number of accidents has already been reported throughout the region well before the main traffic rush on the freeways. Two major ones were I-205 northbound south of the Sandy interchange and I-5 northbound at Columbia.

After the icy morning, Allard said to expect partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 30s.

Thursday snow flurries first hit Washington County and the West Hills about 6:30 a.m. Then the storm should drop into lower elevations, with flakes possible down to the valley floor.
