KIRKLAND, Wash. -- A softball team from Kirkland is trying to become Junior Softball World Series champs.
The final game of the series is Saturday. But, before that, these hometown girls will be focused on winning Thursday's big game against a team representing Europe.
The Kirkland girls are the hosts, facing teams from across the country and around the world. Everest Field in Kirkland has been seeing all of the World Series action.
Tournament director John Chadwick said, if successful, this year will be Kirkland's first time winning the series. The tournament includes five international teams and five teams from the United States. The girls are 13 and 14 years old.
The Kirkland team made it to second place in previous years. Their record stood at 2-2 as of Thursday.
The tournament is one of nine official Little League World Series events.
