SEATTLE -- The Squire Park Plaza in Seattle's Central District is the latest mid-to-low income apartment building to be sold by a non-profit group.

Squire Park is owned by the Central Area Development Association, which has to sell soon to pay off loans and may sell to a private developer.

Fifty-one percent of the 60 units are set aside for low and moderate income residents.

On Wednesday, the Tenants Union helped with a demonstration in front of the building to demand CADA sell to a non-profit group instead of a private developer.

51 percent of the units will remain affordable...regardless of ownership, said CADA CEO George Staggers.
