GOVERNMENT CAMP -- A winter storm warning was issued for the Northern Oregon Cascades lasting through early Wednesday morning as heavy snow started to fall early Monday.

Snow will pile up today, tonight and the next few days, said KGW meteorologist Nick Allard. I expect about six to 10 inches today and about 14 to 20 inches tonight.

The snow level will drop to 1,500 feet during the storm, according to the National Weather Service. Higher elevations already had up to to six inches by 6 a.m. Monday morning.

Allard said the storm would bring blizzard-like conditions to the Cascades with the possibility of whiteouts.
