NAMPA -- Some Nampa residents are anxiously awaiting their chance to voice concerns about noise coming from the Sorrento Lactalis cheese plant.
Those who live near the plant say that the addition of a new system is to blame for all the noise. They hope a meeting coming up on Monday will help make some noise of their own and get the problem solved.
Upset residents say it's the addition of a whey tower that's causing all that noise and problems for some who live near the factory.
The noise started soon after Lactalis added the new whey processing facility. Some say the noise has become unbearable and annoying hum.
One woman we spoke with says the noise has ruined her way of life. She is now weighing the options on whether or not she and her husband should move away from the home they've lived in for nine years.
We would move in a heart beat, our house loan balance plus closing and it's theirs, because I can't live like this anymore, she said.
Earlier this month, Sorrento Lactalis said they were making strides to reduce the amount of noise coming from the factory.
That includes not running the plant during the hours between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Also, they are working on a two-phase project with an engineering firm to dampen the noise.
Plant manager Jean-Claude Bruneau told us the second phase of the project will be completed at the end of February. He hopes it diminishes the noise.
Nampa residents who want to voice their concerns about the plant can do so on Jan. 31.
Sorrento Lactalis will be holding a town hall meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hampton Inn in Nampa.
