Seattle police have identified a suspect in the shooting death of a man in the Greenwood neighborhood last weekend.

Investigators are looking for 17-year-old Byron White, a senior at Ballard High School.

Friday afternoon, police executed a search warrant at a house on 4th Avenue NW in the Greenwood/Crown Hill neighborhood, not far from where the body of David Peterson was found.

Peterson had gone for his daily walk in Greenwood last Sunday night. Later that evening, police officers found Peterson dead from a single gunshot wound, after he called 911 to report he had been robbed.

Police say after the murder, White ran to a friend's house, the same house where police served the search warrant Friday.

Police say White is known to be a transient, living from place to place. People tell police White could still be in the area or may have fled the area.

Police say White is the shooter and they are confident he will be charged as an adult.

There are no other suspects in the murder.
