PORTLAND Snow was falling early Friday morning from Astoria south along the coast, with flakes falling in the Portland Metro area and the Willamette Valley just in time for the morning commute.

The drive from Vancouver into Portland on I-5 and I-205 slowed to crawl. Spinouts were stopping traffic on State Route 14. Surface streets throughout the metro area were moving slowly as the snow moved from a light dusting to a thin, icy slush.
