SEATAC, Wash. -- The King County Sheriff's Office says a woman was shot inside a car in SeaTac Thursday afternoon. The man who opened fire later shot himself after a short police pursuit.
King County Sheriff's Office officials say they received a call around 4 p.m.that a woman had been shot inside a car. When deputies arrived, they found the victim alert and talking and discovered the man who allegedly shot her had crashed his car through a fence and into the front yard of a home a couple of yards away.
From there, police say the man jumped out of the car and into another car he might have stolen from the neighborhood. Police say the suspect drove that car to South 128th Street and Military Road, where a witness saw the suspect jump out of the car and flee on foot carrying a gun.
Officers were able to track the man down after 10 minutes of searching in a dense wooded area. During that time, police said the man shot himself in the chest.
The man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, along with the female victim. No word yet on both their conditions.
Meanwhile, investigators remain at the scene and are trying to determine the relationship with the woman and the man. They might have been boyfriend and girlfriend and the incident may have started as a fight between them inside the car.
