SPOKANE, Wash.-- The City of Spokane is making progress in the Stage 2 Snow Emergency plan.

Plows finished with residential hills Tuesday morning and will now move on to other residential areas. They will continue to work 24 hours a day until work is complete.

The City has68 plows, sanders, deicers, and graders, including some private contractors out working to improve driving conditions.

More snow/rain on Tuesday

The city asks people to park on the even side of the street in all residential hill areas. Parking is also restricted downtown between 2 and 6 a.m.


  • Stage 2 Snow Emergency:
  • Notify citizens of changing snow emergency.
  • Immediately embark on a full-City plow.
  • Bring in private contractors to supplement City crews.
  • Clear sidewalks around City-owned property within 24 hours.
  • Be ready to implement Snow Corridor Plan if weather conditions severely restrict the City s ability to keep up withsnowfall.
  • Keep parked cars off of all arterials and fixed STA bus routes.
  • Move vehicles out of downtown street parking spaces between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Move parked cars in residential areas to one side of the street within 12 hours. (Odd side of the street during odd seasons 2011-12; even side of the street during even snow seasons 2012-13).
  • Clear sidewalks of snow within 24 hours.
  • Clear snow off of vehicles that are parked along the street.
  • Clear snow from around curb ramps, hydrants, storm drains, and mail boxes.
