Charter school supporters think they have what it takes to earn a spot on the ballot.

They stopped their signature gathering early because they think they have enough to place their initiative on the ballot.

Opponents say charter schools would divert resources from traditional schools.

The initiative spokeswoman says the campaign will deliver more than 300,000 signatures this Friday. They need just over 241,000 valid signatures.
