MINIDOKA COUNTY, Idaho -- Search and rescue crews are looking for a Rupert man and his young daughter who are believed to be lost in the desert in Minidoka County.
Dispatchers say Matthew Williams called his wife around 4 p.m. Thursday to say he had a flat tire and that he and his 4-year-old daughter Taylor were going to starting walking to get help. The pair did not have any provisions. The family contacted the sheriff's office around 8 p.m. after failing to hear from the them again.
Williams' truck is a 1999 white GM pickup with an extra cab, and license plate 2M 42796.
Crews are searching by ground and air. The area of focus is around Bear Trap, which is in the desert in the northern part of Minidoka County.
Deputies and search and rescue teams from Minidoka, Blaine, Lincoln, Jerome and Twin Falls counties are assisting in the search. Helicopters were also being called in Friday.
Authorities say there has been no further contact with Matthew Williams via his cell phone. The phone has been pinged as searchers try to locate him. So far there has been no response.
