Heavy snow is making it difficult for drivers trying to get over the Washington Cascades Monday.

Traction tires are required for Snoqualmie, Stevens, White and Blewett passes, and vehicles over 10,000 pounds must use chains.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for the Cascades through the morning. The mountain passes can expect 4 to 8 inches of snow since Sunday. Mount Baker and Paradise near Mount Rainier could see as much as 8 to 16 inches. KING 5 Meteorologist Jim Guy said the snow level will climb to near 5,000 feet Monday, but a cool easterly wind will keep the snow level in the passes to near 3,500. The mountains could see an additional 1 to 2 inches. Latest Forecast

Traffic could be heavier over the passes as people return home from a three-day Veterans Day Weekend.
