SEATTLE -- The Seattle Public Schools has hired a familiar face to lead the district through the next school year.

The Seattle School Board voted unanimously Friday to hire Dr. Larry Nyland as its temporary superintendent.

Nyland was the Marysville schools superintendent for nine years before retiring. He is also a Roosevelt High and University of Washington grad.

Nyland replaces Jose Banda, who was named Superintendent in Sacramento Thursday night.

Nyland says he s not certain what if any changes he ll make in the coming school year. He s also not sure if he wants the job permanently.
