SEATTLE - Sunday is usually a day off for the U.S. Postal Service, but that was not the case as letter carriers were out delivering packages in the Seattle area. It is just the beginning of what is expected to be a very busy week.

USPS Seattle District Manager Yul Melonson said, Monday, December 16, is expected to be our busiest day in our retail offices and Wednesday, December 18, will be the busiest delivery day of the holiday mailing season.

Letter carriers are clocking extra hours, and some package thieves appear to be working overtime too, according to Wilson Chau of Kent.

Chau's surveillance camera caught a woman pulling up in an SUV in front of his home just before 11 a.m. on Friday, December 13. She walked to the front door and grabbed a package off the porch before driving away.

The initial feeling was just shock and disbelief, said Chau. You think it is the season of giving, and to her it is the season of stealing.
