MOSCOW, Idaho - A plane performingduring aRepublican Party fundraiser in North Idaho crashed Saturday, killing the pilot.

The crash happened just after 5:30 p.m. a few miles north of Moscow, near the town of Viola. The Latah County Republicans were holding their annual fundraiser and picnic at the time.

Witnesses reported hearing the aircraft s engine revving loudly just before it crashed. The single engine fixed wing aircraft came apart and caught fire.

The pilot, 60-year-old Randy Humble of Moscow, was the only person in the plane.

The FAA will launch an investigation into what caused the crash.
