BOISECOUNTY, Idaho -- A planned search and rescue operation in Boise County was halted Wednesday morning after a missing hiker turned up at his campsite.
The 25-year-old man was camping with friends between Idaho City and Lowman when he told them he was going to go on a hike.
He left around 5 p.m. Tuesday. When the man didn't return to camp, his friends reported him missing around 11 p.m.
Search and rescue teams were set to be deployed at daylight, but the man found his own way back just before 8 a.m., dispatchers said.
The hiker said he had gotten lost during his hike and spent the night in the woods.
The man's name has not been released. A Boise County Sheriff's Office deputy was sent to the campsite to check on the man, but dispatchers say he isn't hurt.
