BEAVERTON, Ore. A new study ranked Beaverton as the safest city in Oregon.

The study, conducted by CQ Press, looked at several factors, including crime rates, emergency response times and police presence.

I m proud to say that Beaverton is the safest city in Oregon, said Mayor Denny Doyle. Each and every day the brave men and women of the Beaverton Police Department go above and beyond to keep us safe. This is the sixth year in a row that Beaverton has made the safest city list.

Beaverton is a very safe and responsible community, said Beaverton Police Chief Geoff Spalding. For every 1,000 residents that move to Beaverton, the city brings on nearly 1.5 full time sworn officers. This serves as a deterrent to crime.

Beaverton finished 55th in the nation. As for other Oregon cities, Hillsboro was ranked 58th in the U.S., Bend 101st and Eugene came in at 208.

Bellevue, Wash. was right behind Beaverton in the rankings of all Northwest cities. Meridian ranked as Idaho's safest.
