SEASIDE, Ore. A 16-year-old boy was rescued Monday night after falling about 60 feet down an embankment at Thompson Falls, near Seaside.
The teen landed at the base of the falls, just below another 40-foot rock face. His many injuries included broken ribs, a broken pelvis, fractured spine and a partially collapsed lung, according to Sheriff Tom Bergin.
A special high angle rescue team with the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office rigged a rope pulley system to pull the victim and rescuers up the rock face.
Then, the teen was flown in a LifeFlight Helicopter to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. He was listed in fair condition at last report.
The teen s name has not yet been released.
