VANCOUVER - A bank robbery suspect fell to the ground with a gunshot wound to the leg after at least one officer opened fire near the Vancouver Mall Thursday afternoon.
Officers were responding to a report of a bank robbery at the Wells Fargo on Northeast Vancouver Mall Drive around 3:30 p.m. when the incident happened.
Witnesses said the suspect was spotted behind the shopping mall on NEGreenwood Dr. and moments later, shots were fired by an officer.
Police have not said how many officers were firing at the suspect. A gun was recovered at the scene and a police patrol car's rear windshield was shattered.
An ambulance transported the suspect to the hospital. The suspect was hit in the thigh and his injuries were not life-threatening.
There were no reports of officers injured.
