SPOKANE, Wash. -- Prosecutors and the defense gave their closing arguments Monday in the Clay Starbuck trial.

Starbuck is accused of killing his ex-wife Chanin back in 2011.

Prosecutors reminded the jurors Monday how much pain Chanin Starbuck endured in her murder.

The prosecution said Chanin was tased, covered in bruises and sexually violated. They said it was a crime so heinous it had to have been committed by someone with a hatred for Chanin.

The defense pointed out that there was more than one man in Chanin s life. One of those men, a married high school teacher, John Kenlein, admitted to going to Chanin s house four times the day she died. The defense insists that Clay was wrongfully accused.

The jury deliberated for about three hours Monday and was released.
