SPOKANE -- Firefighters are working to contain three separate small brush fires in West Spokane. All three brush fires are located near West 16th Avenue and 3500 West 17th Avenue.

Firefighters said they are looking into a report of someone who may have been cutting down a tree which landed on a power line and sparked.

The fire is not under control. Fire crews said they are working on a containment line which will need to be done by hand. They are expected to be there until at least sundown. They will make sure hot spots are gone and there is no smoke.

Fire crews said all three brush fires burned about 1/2 acre. One home was initially threatened but is now safe.
