Downtown Seattle is being transformed into a living work of art. The Seattle Art Museum s newest exhibit Mirror involves LED screens that wrap around the building and change in relation to what s going on around it.

Digital sensors will pick up on weather information, pedestrian activity, traffic density and other factors. That data will then animate LED images drawn from hundreds of hours of digital footage shot in Seattle and around the region.

Even the artist doesn t know what it s going to look like, said Catharina Manchanda, the museum s curator.

According to the museum, Mirror will create a kaleidoscope type effect.

Completely transforming the buildings and taking something that s static and quiet and liquefying the architecture, said Manchanda.

The new permanent outdoor art installation is the only one of its kind in the world.
