EUGENE --The Ducks wasted little time finding a replacement for Chip Kelly as head coach of the Football team.

Mark Helfrich was announce as the Duck's new head coach at a press conference in Eugene Sunday.

Helfrich, 39, has been the ducks offensive coordinator for four seasons. He was considered the front-runner for the job when chip Kelly began talking to NFL teams.

Helfrich was born and raised in Oregon and is the 32nd head coach in school history. He grew up in Coos Bay and played football at Southern Oregon. He was a graduate assistant for the Ducks under coach Mike Bellotti in 1997 and over the year coached at Boise State, Arizona State and Colorado.

Four years ago, Helfrich was hired as the Ducks offensive coordinator and has played a valuable roll in the team's high-powered offense.

Chip Kelly left the team earlier in the week to take a job as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL.
