PORTLAND -- A woman who died early Sunday in a Broadway Bridge accident was engaged to the man behind the wheel, who has been cited for DUII and charged with second-degree manslaughter.

Ashley Dettra, 20, of Hillsboro, was thrown from the SUV and declared dead at the scene of the 5:30 a.m. accident.

The driver, Andres G. Escobedo, 20, was westbound on the bridge and failed to negotiate the turn onto the NW Lovejoy ramp, police said.

He was accused of second-degree manslaughter and cited for reckless driving and DUII.

A mutual friend confirmed that their Facebook pages accurately said they were engaged.

A 17-year-old was taken to a hospital. She had serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A male passenger fled the accident scene and has not been found.

The accident closed the bridge for several hours.
