COEURD'ALENE, Idaho- The Westboro Baptist Church plans to spend Friday morning protesting in Coeur d'Alene.

A group of just seven protesters from the Kansas-based church picketed outside six locations in Spokane and Cheney on Thursday. At each location a large group of counter-protesters met as well.

The Westboro Baptist Church is known for traveling around the country, spreading a message that God is punishing America for its tolerance of Homosexuality.

After a long history with another hate group, the Aryan Nations, people in Coeur d'Alene say they are not happy about Westboro's visit. Counter-protesters plan to gather at each location. The Coeur d'Alene Police Department also says it will have police presence in each area in case of any violence.

Here is Westboro's planned Friday schedule:

  • Coeur d'Alene High School from 6:10 a.m. to 6:40
  • Lake City High School from 7:10 a.m. to 7:40
  • North Idaho College from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30, and again on Saturday, October 30 from 6:45 p.m. to 7:30

The Coeur d'Alene School District says classes will go on as scheduled at both Coeur d'Alene High School and Lake City High School.
